The beginning of the end

Well as we wind down this Summer semester I want to thank you for your involvement on behalf of both Jinder and myself. We truly enjoyed teaching this class together and we hope that you enjoyed it as well. You have a few more things to do but for the most part freedom is close at hand. You've done well especially those of you who have been actively engaged in the classroom and with one another on Twitter.

The Twitter assignment was very one dimensional and I am glad to see that many of you realize that. Twitter is more about interaction and that's what I'd like to see you doing more if you plan to continue to use Twitter. Reach out to people you want to meet. Offer assistance to others and share valuable information. Twitter is what you make of it. That means if you tweet about your cat and how slow the bus you won't see the value of the tool. If you want more information on anything we've discussed in class don't hesitate to contact me or Jinder depending on what your question is about.

The FOUR things you are responsible for are:
  • 4 more Tweets with #MDIA4010
  • Two blog posts (DUE AUG. 23)
    • Your assignments must be: published to a blog, be at least 500 words each, include a minimum of 5 references to relevant source materials & email a link to the assignment post to jinderc@telus.net

  • 4 - 5 page research paper PRINTED and handed in by AUG. 30
  • 10 minute presentation

Have fun with your work in the future and know that no one gets to their dream job first. There are always a few stepping stones in between that we must step on to make it to where we want to be. Set your expectations realistically, work hard, network and donate your skills and time to other organizations and you will be successful.
